Is STAMP free for merchants?

Yes, TaxFree transactions are completely free for merchants.

Who guarantees VAT in the event of unvalidated invoices?

Stamp guarantees the VAT amount by pre-authorizing the customer's card at the time of purchase. There's no risk for the merchant.

Does Stamp require technical integration?

No technical setup required; you can get started right away. If you'd like to integrate Stamp with your POS or ERP, you can do so later.

Should I leave my current Tax Free supplier?

No. Stamp doesn't require exclusivity. You can continue to offer your current services and add Stamp as an option, letting your customers choose.

Why do customers have to provide their phone number and/or email address?

The traveler's phone number becomes their personal access key. It allows them to link their passport and card details once and reuse them for future purchases without having to register again.

Why do customers have to provide their card details?

The card is pre-authorized as a VAT guarantee. This temporary hold ensures that the savings are properly disbursed after validation. Depending on the card type, the amount may appear as temporarily held.

How does customs validation work?

Within 90 days of purchase, your customer must present the invoice upon exiting the EU with the goods still unused and available for inspection.

In Italy: present the invoice to the customs office.
In Spain: Go to the DIVA kiosk at the airport and validate your invoices they will tell u if you need to go to customs or not. 

From another EU country: Submit your paper invoice and send a photo of the stamped invoice to STAMP.

Why do customers have to provide their travel document details?

By law, only non-EU residents can purchase Tax Free. To verify this, you need an official document proving your non-EU residence, such as a passport or national identity card.

Do I need to download an app to use STAMP?

No, it’s not necessary.

You can register by yourself in store and get your personal STAMP ID by scanning the QR code and just share your ID at checkout. Merchants can register you too. Easy and fast!

Why do I have to share my contact details?

They become your STAMP ID. It links your passport and payment card info securely so you don’t have to re-enter them every time you shop in a store that offers Stamp.

Why do I need to provide my credit or debit card details?

The store places a temporary hold (pre-authorization) on your card for the VAT amount. This is just a security step, no actual charge, and it ensures your VAT savings are guaranteed after customs validation.

What about my passport or identity card? Why is it needed?

By law, only non-EU residents qualify for VAT-free shopping. Your passport and identity card confirms your residency status and lets you benefit from the VAT exemption.

What do I have to do at customs?

Within 90 days of your purchase, show your digital or paper invoice at customs when leaving the EU.

In Italy: present the invoice at the customs office.
In Spain: Present the invoice at the DIVA kiosk in the airport.

Other EU countries: show the paper invoice and send a photo of the stamped invoice to STAMP.

Make sure your goods are unused and ready for inspection.

Can I use STAMP at any store?

STAMP is offered in stores across Italy, including many popular boutiques and shops. 

Look for the STAMP sign and ask for it at checkout!

You can also browse all participating stores directly in the STAMP app, so you always know where you can shop and save.

Do I have to stop using other TaxFree services?

No. STAMP doesn’t require exclusivity. You can use any service you like but once you stop paying VAT upfront, it’s hard to go back to waiting for a refund.
